Diabetes and Endocrine Institute Joins Forces with the Jackson Metropolitan YMCA to Fight Obesity in Mississippi
In his relentless pursuit of health for patients at the Diabetes and Endocrine Institute in Flowood, Dr. Wayne Woo has made interesting recommendations and formed some groundbreaking theories. His latest move is no different—teaming up with the Flowood YMCA to make sure medicine and exercise work together for better diabetes health and to battle obesity in Mississippi.
Dr. Woo (MD, MA, CDE, CPT, CCD, WCC, FACE) and his wife, Pat, have become famous for creating delicious, health conscious meals and recipes for their patients while treating them with traditional medicine and health care. These are meals that promote diabetes health and over all well being without sacrificing taste or demanding highly trained culinary skills. From their 10,000-square-foot facility, Dr. Woo and Pat have become a formidable team in fighting diabetes, which affects more people per capita in Mississippi than in any other state.
After becoming known for teaming diet with medicine, it makes sense that Dr. Woo joins with the Flowood YMCA to bring exercise into the picture. Diet and exercise affect diabetes, weight and health directly and daily.
According to Dr. Woo, healthy diet and exercise are the right decisions for everyone, diabetics and non-diabetics alike. And Dr. Woo has devoted his practice and his life to making sure this message gets out. Recently, it was announced that Dr. Woo is being recognized as one of the top three in the nation for diabetes education by the American Association of Diabetes Educators (AADE) who will be presenting him with a 2010 Diabetes Educator of the Year Award.
